Kingsgrove Dermatology and Skin Cancer Centre is a specialist dermatology practice located in Kingsgrove and Macquarie Park. Our dermatologist is a qualified medical specialist who has completed his medical degree, hospital training in general medicine and surgery and specialist training in dermatology and qualified as a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists.
We offer a range of services including general dermatology, mole surveillance, skin cancer diagnosis and management, acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, blistering disorders, pigmentary disorders, hair loss, nail changes, and excessive sweating including axillary hyperhidrosis treatment.
A valid and current referral from a medical doctor is required to receive a Medicare rebate for eligible consultations and medical treatments.

Dr. Benjamin DanielMBBS, MMed (Clin Epi) (Hons), BA, BCom, FACDDr Benjamin Daniel is an Australian trained fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and a consultant dermatologist at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne. He is a senior lecturer at UNSW and regularly teaches medical students and junior doctors and is actively involved in the teaching and mentoring of Dermatology trainees.
He completed a 2 year pre-dermatology research fellowship in autoimmune blistering diseases alongside his Masters of Medicine for which he received honours for his thesis. As part of his training he spent 6 months at the National Skin Centre in Singapore where he was exposed to a broad range of different skin conditions affecting Asian skin. He is a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and a member of the International Society of Dermatology and American Academy of Dermatology. Dr Daniel has published several articles in peer reviewed journals and presented at both local and international conferences. What SHOULD I bring to MY first appointment?
- Valid referral (e.g. from your doctor as to the reason for seeing the dermatologist).
- Medicare card (DVA card if you have one).
- List of your current medications.
- All of the treatments you are using and have used before- including creams, lotions, wash, shampoo/conditioners for your condition.
- Previous investigations if related to the appointment (e.g. blood results, imaging - xray, CT, ultrasound).
- If you are presenting for a skin check, please remove all makeup before the appointment so your face can be examined properly.
- If you have seen another dermatologist for the same condition, please bring all the correspondence and investigations. A second opinion fee may be necessary for chasing these results.

What is the fee for a consultation?
We are no longer able to provide any bulk billing as the cost of providing specialist medical services is high. Private health insurance generally does not cover dermatology consultations or procedures.
A standard consultation addresses a single course of treatment as per Medicare guidelines, lasting up to 15 minutes. Consultations lasting more than 15 minutes will incur a long consultation fee.

- Additional fees will be incurred for any medical service (treatment or surgical procedure) performed during your consultation.
- You may ask your dermatologist for a financial estimate before the treatment or procedure is performed.
- Fees charged by this practice do not include the cost of external service providers, such as pharmacists, pathologists or radiologists. You may be invoiced by these external service providers. Medicare rebates may apply.
- A fee may be charged for the re-issue of lost prescriptions, radiology/pathology forms and letters to a third-party, apart from your GP (e.g. Legal etc.), second opinions and long consultations.
Account payment:
- Your account needs to be settled at each consultation. We accept cash, EFTPOS, MasterCard and Visa.
- For some procedures, the item numbers and fees are not determined until after the pathology report has been received. In these cases, you will be invoiced 1-2 weeks after the procedure. Payment of the out-of-pocket expense may be payable on the day of the procedure.
- If you have an outstanding balance on your account, then you may not be given another appointment until the account is settled. You may also be liable for additional costs involved in the debt recovery process.
How long is a consultation?
Enough time is allocated per consultation to discuss and treat one condition (15 minutes). If you have more than one condition that you wish to discuss, please book a long consultation or a second appointment to ensure enough time can be allocated to address these issues in the interest of best care. Additional fees for complex medical issues or longer consultations may apply.

What is the process in becoming a dermatologist?
After completing medical school, at least 2 years of training in the public hospital system under supervision in various specialties such as emergency medicine, internal medicine, surgery and paediatrics has to be performed. Entrance into the Australian Dermatology training program is highly competitive and some dermatologists do research or fellowships before entering. The Australian dermatology program is at least 4 years and consists of international and domestic rotations in various hospitals and institutions with ongoing assessments followed by a competitive and exhaustive exit examination process. It generally takes 15 years to become a dermatologist. A dermatologist in Australia must complete ongoing training and mandatory continuing professional development.
